This project included all the civil, marine, earthworks, building works and SMEIPP for nine concrete crude oil storage tanks, including all the associated infrastructure. Constructed just inside the Port of Saldanha bay it is strategically located on shipping routes between Asia, Europe, West Africa and America. Together with the port infrastructure and storage facilities, Saldanha has the potential to become a major international crude oil storage, blending and transhipment terminal. Each of these concrete storage and blending tanks is 110m x 110m x 18m deep and can store 1,1 million barrels of oil. Each tank consisting of 192no columns that support a concrete roof with a concrete floor and walls. Each tank is wrapped in 31 660sqm of HDPE liner and lined internal with an acrylinitrile paint. There is also a total of 42.6km of piping on the project for the delivery and blending of crude oil. The project started in November 2016 and was successfully handed over in October 2020.
