DSV WAREHOUSE
INDUSTRIAL
DSV Park Gauteng is being constructed as a move to centralise premises in line with DSV’s global strategy of consolidating office and warehouse space in a move that will house most of their business units in the province. Located on the R21 highway close to OR Tambo International Airport, this single facility will accommodate 2 000 employees and consists of a 79 000sqm Logistics Warehouse, a 39 000sqm Crossdock, office space of 10 000sqm, a staff facility, a maintenance facility, refuelling facility and energy centre. External concrete hardstands of approximately 150 000sqm are also provided. The 120 000sqm of internal floors required a high quality finish that complied with the FM2 – TR34 specification for reach trucks up to 13m. A jointless steel fibre reinforced system based on material chemical compressive pre-stress was used to cast jointless panels of 2 300sqm. The steel fibre reinforced system allowed the floor to be built without traditional reinforcing thus ensuring a shorter construction period. The external concrete walls of the warehouses are of “tilt up” construction which provided a cost effective, low maintenance, fire resistant and aesthetically pleasing solution in a dolomitic area. The internal columns of up to 17m high were also precast on casting beds on site and lifted into position. The facility has a 1000kWP solar system that provides for the facilities base electrical load being powered with solar power. Added to this the facility will be lit by low energy consumption LED lights controlled by an addressable system that will adjust the lighting intensity thereby compensating for the intensity of the natural light. This facility will deliver a more efficient, seamless service to DSV’s customers nationally.
